Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge vows to boycott UCL final

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge will boycott next month's Champions League final because he still feels angry about the nature of their defeat to finalists Real Madrid.

Bayern were angered by several controversial decisions from Hungarian official Victor Kassai as they lost 4-2 in the second leg at the Bernabeu and went out 6-3 on aggregate.

Rummenigge said he would be in Cardiff, where the Champions League final between Real and Juventus is being played on June 3, to attend meetings.

However, he told Suddeutsche Zeitung: "I definitely won't watch the game as I don't forget so quickly. 

"[In the first leg] we take the lead against Real but miss a penalty to take a two-goal lead. Then we had this refereeing performance in the return leg.

"We had five serious decisions against our team. Five decisive situations. I've never experienced that in 40 years in the game.

"I was in the dressing room afterwards and felt the emotions and powerlessness of our players. I'm upset to this day about our exit -- the team battled so heroically in Madrid.

"I don't think the public are aware that we went into this game with five players struggling with injuries. [Manuel] Neuer, [Jerome] Boateng, [Mats] Hummels, [Robert] Lewandowski and [Thomas] Muller all weren't pain free."

Bayern's quarterfinal defeat followed three losses at the semifinal stage in the past three seasons.

They were knocked out of the DFB Pokal semifinal eight days later by Borussia Dortmund but ended the season with a record fifth successive Bundesliga title.
