David Silva 'praying' to add Champions League to Man City medal haul

NAPLES, ITALY -- David Silva says he prays of winning the Champions League with Manchester City to complete an incredible medal haul.

The midfielder has won the Premier League twice and both English cup competitions with City as well as the World Cup and European Championships with Spain.

But he is missing a European medal with his club and has never gone beyond the semifinals since he joined the club in June 2010.

City need a draw to Napoli to qualify for the last-16 with two games to spare and Silva believes this could be his best chance to win the Champions League.

"We're playing really good football, beautiful football -- scoring so many goals," the 31-year-old told a news conference.

"It would be amazing [to win it]. I pray every night to win the Champions League with City. Hopefully we can win it this year.

"We are playing well in all the lines. From the goalkeeper to the striker, you can see it in every game."

The Spaniard has 19 months remaining on his current contract and revealed that he is in talks over extending his deal.

Silva says he is very happy at the club working under Pep Guardiola since he switched to a midfield role and insists he wants to play at the Etihad Stadium for 10 years.

"We are still talking [about a new deal]," he said. "I hope I can sign soon as I would love to be playing for City in 10 years.

"I think it's a good position for me. I love to play in the middle to be in contact with the ball all the time. I'm very happy to play in that position."

Silva, along with Yaya Toure and injured captain Vincent Kompany, are the only veterans of the last time the two teams met at the Stadio San Paolo in 2011 when Napoli won 2-1 to effectively end City's hope of qualifying for the last-16.

Napoli have never lost at home to a Premier League side in five attempts and Silva is expecting a difficult night.

"We lost so I don't have a good [memory] about this stadium but I hope we can change tomorrow," he said.
