Brazil coach Tite voted for Cristiano Ronaldo over Neymar for FIFA award

Brazil coach Tite voted for Cristiano Ronaldo over his own player Neymar on his FIFA ballot for The Best Men's Player Award.

Ronaldo took home the award for the second consecutive year on Monday, beating fellow finalists Lionel Messi of Barcelona and PSG's Neymar.

The award, which covers the period of Nov. 20, 2016, to July 2, 2017, is voted for by national team coaches, captains and selected media, who each listed a first, second and third-place choice on their ballots.

Voting results released by FIFA showed that neither Messi nor Ronaldo voted for each other, a common occurrence in this data over the years, while Neymar continued to lack the full support of his own country.

For the second straight year, Tite chose to vote for Ronaldo first and Neymar second. After voting Neymar third last year, media representative Paulo Coelho left Neymar off his ballot entirely, preferring Ronaldo, Messi and Brazilian defender Marcelo.

Neymar did not vote as Brazil's ballot was filled by Dani Alves, who selected his countryman first, followed by Messi second and Ronaldo third. Last year he voted Messi above Neymar.

Messi's first-place vote went to Barcelona teammate Luis Suarez, followed by Andres Iniesta and Neymar, who left the Camp Nou for Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Ronaldo voted only for his Real Madrid teammates -- Luka Modric, Sergio Ramos and Marcelo. Portugal coach Fernando Santos chose Ronaldo first, followed by Modric and then Messi.

Among other notable votes:

- Messi was one of only three players to vote Suarez first, along with Uruguay's Diego Godin and Montserrat's Anthony Griffith, who also included Harry Kane and N'Golo Kante in his ballot.

- Chelsea midfielder Kante received three first-place votes, all from players -- including his teammate Eden Hazard, but he was not included in any of the three ballots from France, including that of Hugo Lloris.

- Hazard's sole first-place vote came from his Belgium manager Roberto Martinez, while only Vanuatu journalist Raymond Nase put Kane first.

- Poland captain Robert Lewandowski again voted Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer first, but Neuer chose countryman Toni Kroos over his club teammate.
