Carlo Ancelotti confirms Bayern injury concerns ahead of Dortmund clash

MUNICH -- Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that a number of star players will miss Saturday's Super Cup match against Borussia Dortmund and lamented his side's attitude in two heavy preseason defeats.
Speaking at a news conference ahead of the match, Ancelotti said James Rodriguez, Thiago Alcantara, Arjen Robben, Jerome Boateng, Manuel Neuer, David Alaba and Juan Bernat were all unavailable because of injury.
Colombia international James suffered a calf injury in the 3-0 Audi Cup defeatto Liverpool and Ancelotti said: "I'm not a doctor, but James will be ready in two to three weeks."
Ancelotti said he was optimistic that the core of his team would be back by Aug. 18, when Bayern begin their Bundesliga title defence.
"Apart from Bernat, who will be out for two to three months, I hope that everyone will be fit for the start," he added.
Asked about his side's approach in preseason, Ancelotti said he "wasn't pleased with the attitude" in defeats to Liverpool and AC Milan, a 4-0 loss.
However, he added: "In all the other games, the performances were good; in the last game we had a lot of young players who showed a good attitude."
He said he had experienced a disappointing preseason during his time at AC Milan, adding: "We lost every game, but then ended up winning the Champions League.
"We are ready for our first official game [against Dortmund]. We are motivated, but we know that we are not in the best physical condition.
"However, football is not only physical -- it is tactical, strategic, it is about personality and motivation. I have faith that my team will show all these qualities.
"It will be an interesting, intense, difficult game. We are playing against a very good team with a new coach, perhaps with a new strategy.
"Last year we won, but in the previous three years, it wasn't always easy to win the Super Cup. We will prepare an intelligent game."
