Alexandre Lacazette can be 'like Ian Wright' for Arsenal - Gerard Houllier
Former Lyon and Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier has said Alexandre Lacazette can be Arsenal's next Ian Wright.
Lacazette is close to joining Arsenal after undergoing a medical at the club on Tuesday, and Houllier told talkSPORT that the striker will be a guarantee for goals at the Emirates.
"He scores more than 25 goals every season. One thing he will bring to Arsenal is goals," Houllier said. "He is a bit like Ian Wright, really. You don't seem to see him and then suddenly he moves."
Lacazette has netted more than 20 league goals in each of the last three seasons for Lyon, a club that Houllier managed to the Ligue 1 title in consecutive seasons between 2005 and 2007 after leaving Liverpool.
Lacazette will be Arsenal's record signing in a deal reported to be worth more than £50 million with add-ons, but according to Houllier the striker is worth the price tag.
"He is very mobile, very quick, good in short spaces, has good skill and he scores goals," Houllier said. "He was the top scorer in France in 2014-15, the best player in the league in 2015 and has been the best French scorer over the last three seasons.
"He has good technique, is good at using short spaces and is a hard-working player. He can attack, he can defend quickly.
"I'm not surprised Arsene fancied him. He will fit in their game. He will suit their passing game, the way they build up, their approach. He is very good near the box."
