Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus set to play in U.S. ICC games

Gabriel Jesus is set to be involved in Manchester City's preseason tour to the United States after revealing he will be back from injury in three weeks.

The Brazil striker sustained a broken eye socket during Friday's 1-0 friendly defeat to Argentina and it was feared that he may need a minor operation.

However, Gabriel, 20, has written on Twitter that surgery will not be necessary as well as thanking the doctors who looked after him.

"I won't have to have an operation," he wrote. "In three I should be back! Thank you Dr Padura and team."

Gabriel should now be fit for City's International Champions Cup games in the U.S. ahead of the opening game of the Premier League season against Brighton and Hove Albion on Aug. 12.

Pep Guardiola's side begin their preseason programme with an International Champions Cup encounter against Manchester United at NRG Stadium in Houston on July 20.

They will also face Real Madrid in Los Angeles on July 26 and Tottenham in Nashville on July 29 before playing a friendly against West Ham in Iceland on Aug. 4.

Gabriel is set continue his recovery in South America rather than returning to Manchester for treatment.

The £27 million signing from Palmeiras suffered the injury in a collision with City teammate Nicolas Otamendi. The Argentina defender sent a message of support to Gabriel after the incident.
