Vincent Kompany: People want to see Pep Guardiola fail at Man City

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has told Sky Sports people enjoy seeing Pep Guardiola fail because he has been so successful.
City sit fourth in the Premier League table in Guardiola's first season in charge, and it will be the first time the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach has not won the title in his debut campaign at a club.
They are in a battle with Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal for the final two places in the Champions League next season, but Kompany has leapt to the defence of his manager.
"Pep's tactical and technical assessments are like nothing I've ever seen before and I think that's why people enjoy to see him fail," Kompany said.
Vincent Kompany and Manchester City celebrate the opening goal.
"It's normal, someone that's been successful that many times, you have one season where it's not going your way and people want to focus on it -- that's what creates news and creates entertainment.
"But in reality I can vouch for him in the sense that I've been around a lot of top people in football and all of them had qualities, but he's really special.
"It's not come off this season but there's no doubt in my mind that, with the right amount of time and a season where things go a bit more our way, he's capable of delivering extremely good things."
Kompany, who has regained his place in the side after a series of injury problems, insists City have made huge progress since the appointment of Guardiola and the groundwork for success has been laid.
He said: "We've dominated games, been organised, tried to play in a certain way that I always think is the beginning of something better, something special."
