Manchester United's Guillermo Varela eyes permanent Frankfurt transfer
Manchester United right-back Guillermo Varela has said he hopes to join Eintracht Frankfurt, where he has been on loan this season, on a permanent basis.
Valera joined the Bundesliga club on a one-year deal last July but suffered an ankle injury early in the season and has since featured in only seven competitive matches.
He could become crucial in the run-in amid an injury crisis at the club and told reporters he preferred life in the German city to Manchester.
"I would like to stay here. If the club want it that way, it's an option," he said.
"Manchester is an industrial city and Frankfurt is a city bursting with life."
He said his chances of earning a permanent deal would increase if he could impress in the final four matches of the season.
"I want to enjoy those matches even more following my injury layoff and give it my all," he added.
But although the 24-year-old has only one year left on his deal at United, Frankfurt sporting executive Fredi Bobic has said his transfer fee and salary might be too high for the Bundesliga. "It's a significant package," Bobic added.
Last weekend, Varela made only his fourth league appearance for Frankfurt, playing at right-back as United States international Timothy Chandler moved into a midfield role.
