Barcelona pick Chicago for fifth U.S.-based training academy site
Barcelona have announced a fifth U.S.-based training academy, with this one set for Chicago and due to open next season.
Barcelona already have launched U.S.-based schools in Austin, Texas; Charlotte, North Carolina; Northern Virginia and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Chicago is the third school that will be managed by ISL Futbol.
This will be the 35th Barcelona academy worldwide.
The club opened their office last September in New York. There are four more academies in Canada, located in Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto and Ottawa.
Barcelona have 27 active academies with a presence in over 40 countries across five continents with more than 40,000 children taking part in the different activities, the club said in a news release. New schools are planned for Haikou and Chengdu, China, in Bogota, Colombia and also in Sydney and Brisbane, Australia.
